“Great to work with.”
Wayne was great to work with on our bathroom remodel design. He was punctual with meetings and deadlines. He provided very good details and ideas in a somewhat challenging space.

“Makes complicated ideas understandable.”
Wayne can take complicated ideas and make them understandable so that someone can actually build it... once our project started to take shape and everybody on the team started to see what it was going to be, they took real pride in it.

Hi there, and thanks for visiting. I'm Wayne Williams, and I'm an architect in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with more than 20 years of experience designing homes, schools, and businesses. I started Workshop: Architecture in 2016 because I wanted to work in a company shaped by attention to craft, integrity, and collaboration.
I began my career in Birmingham, Alabama, where I had the good fortune to work for a very talented architect at a small firm. I quickly learned just how much care and craft were required to deliver high-quality projects. I next worked at a corporate firm where I learned project management techniques that allowed me to tackle larger projects such as malls and schools.
Making my clients happier, healthier, and more productive through the thoughtful practice of my craft.
In 1999 I moved back to my hometown of Chattanooga, where I have practiced with several firms, forming strong relationships within the local design and contracting communities. I gained invaluable experience on projects including homes, commercial spaces, K-12 and higher education buildings, and historical renovations. Along the way, I became a LEED Accredited Professional in 2008, and have also become fully versed in BIM (building information modeling) software, a technology that helps me communicate better with my partners on the construction side and save my clients time and money.
I named this firm Workshop because I consider architecture to be a craft--one that is learned through a long apprenticeship, and that requires hands-on practice and attention to detail to succeed. This company is not about me, my name, or my image--it's about making my clients happier, healthier, and more productive through the thoughtful practice of my craft.
Out of the local architects I've worked with, I've never worked with one that was as responsive. Not everything can be solved with an email. If we ever needed help, he was right there.
